A UNIQUE-IN-THE-WORLD TRIBUTE TO ONE OF THE BLUES GIANTS

Eric has enjoyed listening to the music of the late great Memphis Slim for many years, quoting him as one of his biggest influences as a blues pianist, alongside Otis Spann, Dr. John and Pinetop Perkins.

During a recent trip to Paris Eric met drummer Michel Denis and pianist Jean-Paul Amouroux who both played with Memphis Slim during his French years later in his life. They were playing at the same atmospheric venue where they played with Memphis Slim many years ago. And that's when Eric had the idea of putting up this tribute, determined to highlight the great songs that this American artist composed, now sadly too often forgotten in the international Blues circuit.

Eric Ranzoni's unique-in-the-world tribute to Memphis Slim has already been performed at top venues in London, including The Royal Albert Hall (Verdi restaurant), Boisdale of Canary Wharf and The Blues Kitchen of Camden Town.

 WITH THE 4-PIECE BAND

WITH THE TRIO

This is not an imitative act by no means, but a sincere homage to a great musician and his intense, humorous, sophisticated blues, interpreted in Eric's own style. The trio includes guitarist Mal Barclay, drummer George Hart and, with the full band, on bass is Dave Swift (Jools Holland's longtime bassist).

Bookings for Eric Ranzoni's tribute to Memphis Slim are now accepted for Blues & Jazz venues and festivals worldwide.
